Cycling Latino America
Jan 2013 – Feb, 2016
25,000 kms
In February 2013 Amanda and I departed from San Francisco with the only idea of cycling south. Three years later, in February of 2016 and after many many adventures along the way, we reached the end of the road in Ushuaia (Argentina).
It was a trip that changed our lives. Leaving everything behind (a well paying job, friends, family, stability, etc) and hit the road was the best decision of my life. The amount of growth we both experienced during those 3 years was incredible.
We travelled on a tight budget ($10 per day for EVERYTHING), worked along the way as dive instructors and build an online business to support our travels.
Latinoamerica will always be in my heart. It’s by far my favorite part of the world. I believe America is the most beautiful continent but, paired with the latinos, it’s simply unbeatable.
Traveling with a bicycle turned out to be the right choice. It suited our budget but also opened the door to so many interactions, friendships and experiences we wouldn’t have had if we would have just flown in.
Here is the route we followed. Cycling wasn’t the only thing we did. We spent a lot of time hiking the trails in the Andes, scuba diving both in the Caribbean and the Pacific coast, wildlife trips and other side trips like going to Antarctica.
